I have a strong ability to craft stories, a drive to learn continuously, and a genuine kindness.
My experience as a writer and editor is bookended by what I’ve learned over a half decade as a public high school English teacher and nearly four years spent as a contractor for Microsoft and Meta. In between, I spent some time working for a Seattle-based charcuterie company. There, I gained insight into what it takes to build a successful small business while pursuing further education and experience in my field.
At Microsoft, I joined the Microsoft Research Digital Engagement team as a content writer and eventually became lead editor. When I joined the team, I was one of two writers that helped to develop a style guide for the organization, write digital content with a focus on helping researchers craft blog posts, and develop a consistent voice for the brand across social media and other external content channels.
As the success of the team lead to its growth, I had the opportunity to craft and shape written content for webinars, virtual events, short-form and long-form videos, keynote speeches, and other highly technical content. I also produced podcast episodes. Along the way, I was lucky to work with some of the world’s leading technology researchers and help to inform content for executives at the highest levels of the company. As lead editor, I managed a storytelling calendar and helped to facilitate content creation with a team of writers, graphic designers, an audio/video production crew, and a podcasting agency.
In July of 2022, I joined Meta Open Source to build and refine its storytelling engine. In my six months there, I made immediate impact by honing blog posts, social media, videos, and other promotional content while implementing new processes to make the editorial process more robust. My time at Meta taught me how to adapt my versatile skillset to a new organization and work environment.
Some of my favorite topics include AI, future of work, quantum computing, and privacy and security.
